Walter Thomas & Associates is a service Disabled Veteran owned business and also an 8(a) Contractor specializing in Demolition, Asbestos Abatement, Lead Paint Removal and follow on construction as related to some demolition projects. Along with our Mentor, Thomas Land Clearing Co., we also have shown proven capabilities of completing Design Build projects. The intent of Walter Thomas & Associates is to complete demolition and environmental related services at a high level of quality and safety. We have the background to provide these services, however, in working with my mentor, Thomas Land Clearing Co. our strengths will more than exceed that of most of our competitors. We look forward to working with you and your colleagues whenever demolition services are required.

Specific Project Experience

Mr. Thomas and his senior demolition staff members have significant Federal contract experience within the Federal facility environment in Southern California including the demolition of 29 Palms Marine Housing, Seal Beach Naval Weapons Station Building 26, including the following major projects:

 

Demolition of Los Angeles River Bridge and Channel Improvement, USACE, Santa Ana, CA

 

Mr. Thomas served as Project Manager for 2 contracts, totaling >$7,000,000 for the demolition of an abandoned railroad bridge spanning the Los Angeles River in Long Beach, CA. Tasks included the demolition of a boardwalk, wood railings, timber ties, tracks, bridge piers, approached, concrete abutments, pile caps, asphalt roadway, and footings. The 2nd contract included site clearing, obstruction removal, diversion and control of surface water flows, fill compaction, installation of crushed stone bedding and geotextile materials, and the placement of a rip-rap cover.

 

Various Demolition Tasks, US Department of Veterans Affairs, WLAHCC, Los Angeles, CA

 

Mr. Thomas served as Quality Programs Manager for a $629,000 contract to complete demolition and removal of six existing structures located at the healthcare center, including the removal of concrete slabs and footings to a depth of one (1) foot beneath footings, asphalt, and all related demo debris. Asbestos and lead paint were removed from various buildings prior to demolition. Upon completion of the demolition, TLC installed automatically controlled landscaping irrigation complete with piping; backflow prevention; sprinkler heads; valves; and control wiring.
